PANIC ATTACK : Real or Fake ?

Nowadays you must seen people face a lot of multiple behavioural problems and errors or mood swings which make them behave inappropriately with you or maybe with all. It is very commonly faced by youngsters and newly wed nowadays. It may be considered a sudden episode of fear or anxiety usually faced once or twice a life time.
If the same person faces these attacks again and again then it becomes a PANIC DISORDER. These people commonly show profuse sweating, chills or hot flashes. They may feel rigid or even loose control over their body with even rapid heart rate. Nausea and vomiting may be rare but may effect in some cases.

At times the person suffering may feel dizzy or faint and hurt themselves. There is feeling of detachment from people, things, social and emotional behaviour.

The problem faced by these people may be genetic or they must have faced mental trauma or negative environment at their home , school or college even. It develops a negative emotions in these children or people suffering from panic attack and show seizures in some cases. It is at times that they are unable to manage their weak emotions , work, stress or over burden of things and work. It at times results due to their own mismanagement of things. IT EVEN HAPPENS THAT PEOPLE USE THIS PROBLEM TO MAKE FOOL OF OTHERS ALSO. We need to deeply understand the conditions of the one facing the problem.

These weak emotions and negative thoughts over ponders the brain also. Panic attacks are common and real but they are not dangerous. Panic attacks is only a temporary condition which must have effected (30-40)% people at some point or the other in their life time.
Panic attacks can feel like an overreaction of fear and anxiety to daily stressors, and can include physical symptoms like trembling, tingling, or rapid heart rate. Always remember "it is all in your own head". Anxiety begins in the brain, but it manifests as various symptoms.

Overthinking causes stress and anxiety which leads to involuntary panic and eventually to panic attacks. The regular patterns of overthinking may lead to anxiety, irritability, panic attacks as well as low appetite, irregular sleep patterns, high blood pressure, and much more.

The Amygdala  is the grey matter of the brain. The amygdala determines how we act in a crisis depending on the information it receives. This means that if your amygdala is overstimulated, your anxiety will outweigh the logical parts of your brain and cause you to panic. Stimulation of the amygdala produces autonomic reactions associated with the fight or flight response, which causes increase in plasma stress hormone level, increased heart rate and blood pressure.
While a person faces panic attack, the amygdala becomes hyperactive and the prefrontal cortex becomes less responsive which causes them to spiral. A panic attack is said to occur when the 'flight-or-fight' response is triggered but there is no danger about to happen and it is merely your own fear hampering you; or you may also be danger in some cases resulting in excessive overthinking and fear.

Whenever you come a cross a situation when you may see a person facing these attacks of panic then gently let them know what they may facing and calm them down. Make them realize that they need to be soft along with encourage them to breathe slowly and deeply. Speak to the person in short, simple sentences. Be predictable, and avoid surprises. Help the person focus. Ask the person to repeat a simple, physically tiring task such as raising his or her arms over the head or you can move them move their arm up and down. Listen to them,  provide them space and avoid such talk or actions that may worsen the situation even more.

Provide them with coconut water or chamomile tea if possible to calm them down during panic attacks. Eating strawberries or any other citrus fruit may also calm them down during this stressful condition. Drinking green tea may also soothe in some cases. Once the person calms down they may also be given light food to eat but boiled eggs prove to be a good option for them.
